Management and key executives

Managing Director Focko Nauta holds a Masters Degree in Civil Law from the University of Leiden. Focko Nauta has broad international, and executive experience in the ship finance industry with MeesPierson and Fortis, a/o as initiator and head of the Oslo office, and in the shipping industry as Managing Director of Van Ommeren Shipbroking Ltd, London. Presently Focko Nauta is Board Member of ITC Shipping B.V. and Freeseas Inc. Focko Nauta has been with FinShip since initiation.

Managing Director Mark Nieuwland holds a Masters Degree in Business Law from the University of Leiden. Mark Nieuwland has broad international finance and executive experience with MeesPierson and in the development finance industry with FMO. Together with Focko Nauta, Mark Nieuwland has been with FinShip since initiation.

Senior Consultant Paul van Baasbank, graduate from the University of Leiden, has been with ABN AMRO for more than 30 yrs, of which 15 years as head of shipping finance in the Rotterdam head office. Paul has been working for FinShip as a free-lance consultant since 2004.

Senior Consultant Leo Bloemheuvel has worked with the ABN-AMRO Group for more than 36 years. Having started as a junior in 1972, he became head of the corporate clients unit within a local ABN-AMRO office early 90s and was thereafter asked to work with the Trade and Commodity finance department of 100% subsidiary HBU in 1993. Ship finance was handled by this department, with Leo becoming the prime responsible for shipping as of 2003. Leo joined FinShip in May 2009 as Senior Associate.

Associate Kostas Ladis holds a BSc in Economic Sciences from Athens University and a Master Degree in Shipping and Transport from the Netherlands Maritime University in Rotterdam. Kostas Ladis has worked in various segments of the shipping industry before joining FinShip in 2012.

Office Manager Petry Straten has worked with various companies in the financial industry, and has been responsible for the FinShip office management since 2001.
